RESTORATION OF HOPE
Invest in Charles' Education
…”I was in the market doing my grocery shopping when this young boy approached me and offered to carry my small fruit luggage. At first, I was concerned what a young boy would be doing alone on the streets when other children his age are in school. I smiled and gave him my stock to carry, and we started talking as we walked towards the bus stop. From what he shared, I learnt that Charles and his mother were living in extreme poverty and was on the streets because of school fees arrears. His mother was unsettled and so were her children.”
Charles is in Junior Secondary School Grade 7, and he has arrears of school fees! When we later met up with his mother, she expressed how the casual work she does was not helping to meet the basic needs of her family and hence the struggle. We facilitated the boy to go back to school and we shall monitor his progress every term.
Charles needs help.
- Would you be willing to sponsor this boy’s education?
- We are inviting well-wishing friends to support Charles with his school fees and support the mother with a small business to sustain her family
Let us make this a life-changing event for Charles and his family.
Building a home for Jane and her children
“My name is Jane, and I am the mother of nine wonderful children and have one special need child… I was happily married to the father of my first 5 children, but he left us without a trace. I then married my second husband in my desperation, and we have 4 children. My partner and I depend on subsistence farming and other casual jobs to provide food for our family. This has not been enough to improve our circumstances. We are just trying to make it to the next day and that is why I am requesting for your help.”
We met four of Jane’s children loitering in the streets and when we took them back home, we saw their cramped, poorly constructed house. There were holes on the iron sheets covering the roof of the house and when the rain comes, it pours in through these holes. This turns the dirt floors into a muddy mess and soaking the few possessions that they own.
We did what we had to do first by settling the children back into school, but this family is living in unsanitary conditions leaving the little ones vulnerable to opportunistic illnesses. During our interactions with them, one of the babies got sick with a respiratory infection and had to be admitted in a hospital for better medical care.
An opportunity to make a difference...
- Would you be willing to invest in this family to build them an extra room and renovation of their house?
- Do you have friend who would want to fund such a project and of helping with building of this extra room?
This is project has the potential of turning the lives of this family. You can make a difference. Together everyone achieves more!
My greatest desire to further my Studies
My name is Purity (on the left), a determined young woman, full of hope after meeting Tumaini Kwa Watoto team.
“My story with TKW begun in 2017 when my older sister and I left home in search of a better life in the city due to the challenges that were at home. Life on the streets was not as easy as we had thought. But one morning we met up with a team doing an outreach to children living in the streets. That was the turning point for our lives. We were later taken back home and supported back to school. After four years of hard work as a student, I completed my high school in 2023. I was thrilled when I passed with a good grade to go my first choice option Bomet University in September. My greatest desire is to further my studies with a degree in Education. This dream seems impossible without help. I promise to work hard to achieve my dream of becoming a teacher and lift my family out of poverty.”
Would you sponsor me with my college expenses?
Adopt-a-community Initiative
We implemented an initiative called ‘adopt-a-community’ in the county. For every child we have rescued from the streets, we return them to a family and connect them to a school, church and community caregivers who play a huge role in keeping these children safe. To prevent this child from going back to the streets or pulling others into the streets, we work with that community through different initiative that helps the child settle back home.
This month, we visited a school that is under the Adopt-a-community initiative, where we have taken several children from the streets. We ministered to 34 pupils, addressed topics on academic excellence, adolescent and body changes, Cleanliness and godliness, and family issues and guidance. We gave the girls and boy some under wears. We also demonstrated to the girls how to use pads during their monthly cycle and how to keep themselves clean.
