Support Mary and Her Family find a home
Our recent outreach in the streets of Nairobi brought us face-to-face with Mary, a heavily expectant mother of three clinging to hope in utter destitution. For two distressing months, Mary and her two young children have endured the brutal realities of street life after being cruelly abandoned by her family, deemed a burden in her time of need. Each day is a desperate struggle for survival, spent seeking a risky corner to offer an imagination of safety for her little ones.
It shatters our hearts to imagine Mary and her two small children enduring such hardship on Nairobi’s unforgiving streets, especially with another precious life expected at the end of May! The fact that her two children have different fathers, and she now carries a third, tragically deepened her vulnerability in the eyes of those who should have offered unwavering support and compassion- her family.
The question of whether any child deserves to grow up in the dangers and deprivations of the streets answers itself with a resounding “No” no matter where they are around the world. The constant threat of harm, the aggravating insecurity, and endless struggle for the most basic necessities justly, this is no environment for a child to thrive, let alone survive. Mary and her children are in urgent need of a safe room to call home. Providing them with this simple reservation would offer a lifeline:
- A chance to escape the unsafe grip of street life and lay the groundwork for a future built on stability.
- It would ensure the safety of her children and allow them the opportunity to return to school,
- And empower Mary to establish a small business, fostering long-term independence for her family.
