HOPE – Through Empowerment

Do their parents or caregivers know where these children are?  We do not stop with the question; we go further, engaging one child at a time. We make friends and remove them from the streets reuniting them with their family. At home we assess the need and find ways of supporting. We work in partnership with a local network of volunteers empowering the child and the family.

In February 2021, we moved 51 children from the streets. 67 who had been rescued previously were and this month were put back into school with new uniforms and other school requirements. 3 families were supported with small business and other income generating activities were boosted.

Bri is from eastern Kenya. His family is poor and his parents are separated. Bri has 3 siblings and their mother is the sole provider. They live in one rented room but they are often unable to pay rent because his mother is not well. Bri had joined the streets due to this poverty and to look for casual work to support his mother. He is only in grade 6 and is now back in school. Tumaini Kwa Watoto team is strengthening this family and looking for ways of giving them economic empowerment to provide for their basic needs.

Thanksgiving and Prayer requests

• Pray for 51 children rescued and reunited with families in February 2021 and for a breakthrough in the restoration process with their families.
• Give thanks for the children who have joined school and thank God that He’s helping them to adjust to both home and school environment.
• Pray for those who may not want join school to find their way in joining skills training.
• Pray for peace to rest upon these children together with their families and communities.
