HOPE is Celebrating TRIPLE JOY
Empowering Children through Education

The first half of 2021 has been a season of joy for us at Tumaini Kwa Watoto. We have many reasons to be joyful and grateful that our investment in children has paid off…
First, three young men rescued from the streets, reunited their families and back to school joined university this year. This is a testimony that children on the streets are just that – children. The future is looking bright for these three as they pursue their dreams.
Secondly, (70) young people sat for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) -exams taken after four years of high school. 4 qualified to join public universities. 24 qualify to join colleges and 40 + for vocational training. We are celebrating our young people for their success!
Thirdly, we had over two hundred children sitting for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E); an exam that is taken after eight years of primary education. Most of our children qualify to join secondary schools this July. Their stories are beautiful.

Mitch: We rescued Mitch from the streets in 2019 and reunited him with his family. This year he completed his primary exam scoring 387 marks!! This mark takes him to a national high school. He attributes his success to timely rescue, hard work and discipline as he wants to become a lawyer. He says, ’My grandmother was struggling to feed us that’s why I went to the streets to look for casual work. I would not have wished to be out of school. I was taken back home and back to school. This was my opportunity to build my life and that of my family. I feel more confident now as I look forward to joining high school.” Will you support Mitch in paying his school fees for his dreams to come to pass?

Juma: One of the joys of a parent is to see their children excelling. Juma’s father who is also a pastor was overjoyed when his son completed his secondary exam and got a grade C-. He shared with our team that this was a first in their community. “My son has made me very proud. Since his rescue in 2016, his focus changed. He is the only educated child in my family. Wish I could support 5 more because this would transform my community!”

Brian: it has been a journey of 9 years since his rescue from the streets. He was in grade 5 then and after many long journeys and challenges, he completed his secondary school exams and got a C+. Brian will be joining University to pursue his career as a Clinical Medical officer. We steadily watched his journey of restoration to a man with dreams.
If many of these young men and women had remained on the streets, their stories would be quite different.
Listen to our Partners’ joy
“I’m greatly encouraged when I look at the list of young people who’ve completed high school. This is God’s amazing work and we give him thanks.”

“We are encouraged. Our ‘little’ becomes much in His hands. Each child has a storyline of divine intervention. Psalm 65:2 “O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come.”
***
“I am so pleased for Diana that she reached the end of school and, even though there will be many with higher results, I am sure Diana has worked hard to try and this is so much more than would have been possible if Children of Hope hadn’t enabled her to return home to her grandmother.”
***
“We appreciate your support for Hannington. His future looked dim when we met him in 2017. Now he can stand tall among his peers.”
***
“Thank you for this wonderful news. We are delighted for Brian and he must be so proud of himself.”

Our children overcame many obstacles related to life on the streets for some time and we celebrate their resilience. Parents supported their children, the government reopened schools closed due covid-19 and you our partners supported us to empower these families. Together we did this. We appreciate all our friends and partners.
